4 Day Catch Up
27/11/04
Very light 7.5km run with Belinda in balmy evening. Main thing to get out of this run was to work with Belinda on pacing so she could run with MTG comfortably tomorrow. After a sluggish start, we were able to get into a nice stride and things are looking on the up for tomorrow.

Ran 16.6km with MTG today in 1 hr 45 mins. Pace was a lot more consistent than last time I ran with this group. This was great considering it was quite a challenging course and the weather was very warm. Belinda ran very well and I can feel her confidence growing as she is starting to settle into running at a group pace rather than her own. This is important as the deal I made with her was I would run with her at MTG until they moved to 6am. As this is happening next week, I will run next week with the 6.10 group to begin with as I am not sure which group I should run with given all the discussion about pace of groups. I will start here and get a feel for it. I think this is better than starting with 6.20 and realising that I am not quite up to that level.

Monday morning swim. Ventured down once again to Bronte Beach and swam 1km. Water was absolutely sensational and I can't remember the last time I really enjoyed a swim as much as this one. I am really starting to enjoy these weekly swims as I find them very refreshing and invigorating. I certainly won't be challenging anybody with the smallest amount of talent in the pool as when I decided to up the pace on one lap, was still being beaten by bloke next to me doing breaststroke. I found this quite amusing.

30/30 session. After a 3km warmup, put the foot down and blasted through the pain barrier for 15 minutes of 30 second efforts followed by 30 second jog recoveries for a Pat Carroll special. Really enjoyed the rush I got from this session and only really started to hurt on the last couple. I just had to tell myself at this stage that there were only a few more and this really seemed to work. Finished off with a 3km warmdown. The best thing about this session is it is over very quickly. Glad I got it in early as today is expected to reach 42 degrees.
