Midweek long run
17/11/04
Headed out for the midweek long run this morning which was reduced to 14km seeing that I am racing on Sunday. Glad I got it out of the way early as I could feel the humidity and thought this could get ugly if running later in the day.
Felt really comfortable and was actually using my Heart Rate Monitor to slow myself down. I think this speed work is starting to pay dividends. I am realising that to run consistently well requires discipline and that is probably an area that I have lacked in the past. Usually, if I feel like going hard in training, I just do and then wonder why the legs are heavy or I feel sluggish when I need to run fast. i.e. in races.
Time for the run was a tick under 70 minutes and Average Heart Rate was 135.
This leaves me feeling fresh for a fartlek session tomorrow.
