A New Beginning

10/11/04
First day of new program went well. Ran 16km in a tick over 80 minutes. Felt nice and comfortable and very relaxed. HR was quite low - average 136.

11/11/04
First speed session was an Interval with a difference. After a 3km warmup, the aim was to run hard for 5 minutes, have a minute standing recovery and then try to get past the point you started. This then had to be repeated again. I managed to cover 1.3km in the first 5 minute effort, fell 5 metres short of hitting the starting point on the return. After another minute recovery, fell 20 metres short of the first point I got to, then about 25 metres short the final time. Was nackered at the end as I found the minute recovery period very short and had to dig very deep.

Finished the session with a 3km warmdown. Very challenging session.

12/11/04
Had a nice easy run with Belinda starting at Bondi Beach, going to Rose Bay before heading through Double Bay and then up Edgecliff Rd to Bellevue Hill and finally back down to Bondi Beach. This run is just short of 11km, very scenic on the first half and very challenging on the back half and absolutely breathtaking when returning to Bondi Beach which is very picturesque on a nice sunny day.

Hey Horrie, know how you felt on that interval thing on Thursday! We did them in Pat's group session, doing 3 x 4 min ones an 1 x 2 min one. Killers!
