Midweek long run
22/12/04
Got back to my midweek long run of 16km after a break from it last week. Felt nice and smooth from the beginning and clicked into a nice rhythm almost straight away. Felt I was going a bit quicker than I usually do but just went with it and as I haven't been able to run with my HRM for 2 weeks to monitor effort. Got to the 5km mark about a minute and a half quicker than I usually do and continued to roll along at this pace. Got to 10km mark about two and a half minutes quicker than usual. Continued to roll along nicely to finish in 74:30, which is 4 minutes quicker than last time and 6 minutes quicker than when I first started doing this run 6 weeks ago. Just shows what good consistent training can do for you. Will head out to my favourite hill tomorrow for 2X5 minute surges at 10km race pace followed by 8 hill reps. I'm expecting to be feeling it at the end of that one and I'm sure the recovery run back home will be nice and slow with very heavy legs.

Looks like we both had good mornings Horrie. It's a great feeling when things go well. When you feel good right from the start you just know it is going to carry through to a good session overall.
