The short and the long of it
4/12/04
Nice short slow run of 7.5km just to turn legs over in preparation for long run tomorrow. Lovely twilight run with Belinda where we maintained a nice consistent gentle pace. This is giving Belinda a lot of confidence in preparing for her runs with MTG. She is now looking forward to a 20km hitout tomorrow with confidence. I will be making my debut at the Striders 6.10 group running 22.3km.

Lovely day for a long run today. Sun was shining, wasn't too warm with a gentle seabreeze to help cool proceedings. Set off with 6.10 group which had 7 of us including Cool Runners O Runner, Spud and Redback.
After all the kerfuffle about pace recently, set off at a nice pace. Considering the hilly course we had confronting us, I was glad that the speedsters had gravitated towards a 6.20 start. Ran for about an hour when we had to turn off for the shorter option of 22.3km. O Runner, Spud and Adrian were going on to do the 31.6km option. Bid them farewell before we turned up quite a steep windy hill that took us back to the main road and back towards where we started. Caught up and overtook 6.00 group at around 18km mark before finding a very steep hill that just seemed to keep going and going. We reached it then did a nice trail section before coming back to main road before we had to climb another long but not as steep hill before turning off to the finish.
Finished in around 2:10 but could not confirm this as stopwatch stopped working after HRM had given up the ghost 2 days ago. I think it needs a new battery.
Felt really good at the end and certainly felt the benefits of doing all those hills throughout the run.
I am looking forward to a nice swim tomorrow and the start of another week's training.
