Cool Running 5km Challenge
29/1/05
Managed to run 19:30 for a 4 second improvement on last month. Went out a bit too quick as my plan was the same as Wednesday and try and stick with Blue Dog and Superflake. O Runner also had the same plan and really got out of the gates well. Got through the first km in 3:35 which I knew would make me pay later but I didn't feel as though I was over racing. Second km was better paced and was on target pace of 3:50. Continued to slow and the third km was in 3:59 and I knew I had to pull my finger out. Overtook O Runner just after 3km mark but Superflake and Blue Dog had opened quite a gap on me by this stage. Missed the 4km split so I was just concentrating on holding onto my form until the finish and started reeling in Professor and Mr G who had started in the 20 minute group. Finished last 2km in 8:05 to give me my time of 19:30. About 22 and 27 seconds behind Blue Dog and Superflake respectively. They didn't quite manage to break 19 minutes either so feel that is where I am at the moment. Conditions were again tough with humidity very high.

Very good mate. Still a PB if only 4secs.
At least you managed to run O Runner down after he got away at the start. See you Sunday at DY.

Congratulations Horrie! Well done mate, you are running so well. You must be pretty pleased with your Canberra prep at this stage. Keep it up.
