Energy levels returning
11/2/05
Another early morning run with Belinda. This time 10.8km in 68 minutes. The pace was again comfortable and very cruisy. Quite humid, even though the sun wasn't up yet. Glad we got the run over with early as it felt as though it was going to get quite warm.
12/2/05
We did our usual Saturday night twilight run. Although, we did a little bit extra tonight, running 10km in 59 minutes. Pace was a bit quicker tonight than what we have been running during the week and I realised I was really enjoying it. Belinda commented today that I was getting back to my normal self and behaving the way I normally do. I was doing a bit of stirring and being cheeky. It made me realise that even though I felt alright during the week, that I was still very much in recovery mode. I am still trying to come to terms with what happened last week but have decided to let it go and realise that my body just let me down after training very hard over the hottest months of the year and not being as vigilant with my hydration levels as I should have been. I have decided to just let my confidence build up gradually and learn to run as to how I feel on the day.
I will be running The Equaliser tomorrow, which is a Cross Country race with a distance somewhere between 14 and 15km, mostly along fire trails and very hilly. Belinda has given me permission to run it on the condition that I take 6 large flasks on my fuel belt and don't bash it. I have told her that I certainly won't bash it at all and take the fluids she wants me to. This has put her mind at ease. So I certainly won't be doing battle with the likes of O Runner and Redback like I was last year. But after last week, I am just so glad to be running at all.

Heh Horrie, hope you went well at the equaliser today - looking forward to reading your race report.
I had water at each aid station today but you never really get much in - maybe a mouthful from each cup. IT is a real exercise to try to learn to drink in a race.
Hope you had a great run today - and you're right. It is just damn good to be running, regardless of speed or distance! :)

Horrie, Great to see you are back to your old self. I was worried for a while. Wouldn't want you to miss Canberra.
