1km intervals
22/3/05
Headed off to Timbrell Park this morning for an attempt at 1km reps. Wasn't sure how many I'd do considering I haven't done them since my collapse in February.
So I started with a 2km warmup and a few run throughs to get the body moving. Did the first 1km in 3:48 which felt okay, then the second in 3:47 which didn't feel so good and the third in 4:00 which felt as though I was running uphill. The legs just got heavier, the effort increased and the pace got slower so I knew it was time to pull the pin. Finished off with a 2km warmdown for a total of 7km for the day.
I guess the legs are still recovering from 6 Foot Track so I'm not going to beat myself up. I will just continue to listen to my body and go with it. It has worked well for me the last 6 weeks so I'm not going to change anything now.

Horrie, I read your six foot account on CoolRunning - it was one of the early ones. They're all so readable aren't they. When you said 'You try and stop me' (from doing it again) I thought 'Yes! That's exactly how I feel'. I look forward to seeing you in Canberra. I've pretty much decided to put in a late entry for the marathon. Gulp.
