Midweek long run
2/3/05
Today's long run was very scenic as I headed out from home down to Maroubra Beach and ran along the coastline to Clovelly, then up Clovelly Rd, into Frenchman's Rd, then into Avoca St until it joins Anzac Pde and then along Anzac Pde to home. The run was just a tick over 22km and took 1:49 at an average pace of 4:58 per km. Average HR was 150.
I was very satisfied with the run as I ran along grassy sections wherever I could to try and simulate trail running as well as tackle some decent hills along the coastline and a long one to get back into suburbia. For the hills, I used Mr G's technique of recruiting the glutes and it definitely took some heat off the calves. Thanks G Man!
I've pulled up pretty well from the run and I don't feel as though I ran 51km on Sunday. I will start to wind the distance down on the runs now in preparation for 6 Foot Track in 10 days. I'm hoping to do a lap of the Quarry Rd circuit with Plu before then if we can fit it in.
