1km intervals

20/4/05

I have decided to do speedwork sessions on the days that I don't run with Belinda. As I didn't meet my goal at the Canberra Marathon, I now have to focus on the other goals I have set for 2005. As most of these are speed related, the only way I'm going to get faster is to train running fast.

So today I decided to do 4X1km intervals at an average somewhere between 3:50 and 3:55 with a 90 second standing recovery between each one. As it was only 10 days since running Canberra Marathon, did not want to set the goals unrealistically high to cause any blowups. I ran the 4 reps in 3:47, 3:44, 3:56 and 3:52 for an average of 3:50 per rep. I went a bit too hard on the 2nd and paid for that one on the 3rd but finished the last one strongly. I have pulled up okay and the legs were only a little heavy during the session. This gives me something to build on in the months ahead.

Comments:
Well done Horrie. Good to see you had a good session. Looking for sub 40 at North Head are we?
