Another 70km week completed
22/7/05
This morning we headed out on our 10.8km loop and started slowly. After about 4km, Belinda asked if I could step up the pace as she felt herself dragging. We did this and Belinda finished the run in good form. Sometimes it is really hard to get going on these cold mornings.

This morning we headed out to the 10 Bridges Classic STaR as Belinda missed this one when Striders did it due to a virus. We headed out at a steady pace rolling up and down the hills. Then we arrived at the foreshore of Sydney Harbour it was magnificent. The Harbour Bridge and Opera House looked absolutely splendid in the morning light. Then we headed over the Harbour Bridge into the city across Darling Harbour. Then across the Anzac Bridge and again it was fantastic. We continued to roll along at a steady pace crossing the Iron Cove Bridge and then a decent climb over the Gladesville Bridge. When we got to the loop at Hunters Hill at around 22km, Belinda's body started to seize up and it was pretty slow and painful from here as there are still a few hills to climb. Belinda didn't give in and ran up all the hills slowy but surely. We finished the run in 3:34 covering 29.5km. It wasn't a memorable run from a form point of view for Belinda but she enjoyed the experience of running across all the bridges and taking in the stunning scenery. As well as that, she got to experience what it is like to run when everything in your body is telling you to stop, much like you feel like in the last 10km of a marathon. I believe it will hold her in good stead and prepare her mentally for the patches of the marathon that are not going to be particularly pleasant.
