Airport Adventure STaR
28/8/05
Belinda and I ventured out to Kogarah this morning for the 19km option with the MTG. We decided on this option as Belinda wanted to have company to take her mind off her leg. So much for this idea as we were dropped off the back within the first km. We didn't try too hard to keep up as it was more important for Belinda to get through the run without worrying about maintaining a certain pace.
This run follows a bike path along Botany Bay and it was a great morning to be out and the scenery was great. We were overtaken by the 6.10 group about 5km into the run and then the 6.20 group about 8km into the run. This group included O Runner and Silverfox and they were moving along at a fair clip. We then got to the Captain Cook Bridge and went under before heading back through Sans Souci into Ramsgate and a nice stretch of grass back into Kogarah.
We finished 19.2km in 2:01 for a good steady run. Belinda was thrilled to get through it and finish in one piece. Her calf was tight to begin with and tightened up again after the run but once warmed up, didn't hamper her too much. It was the confidence boost she needed and she knows now that she will be running that marathon in 2 weeks time no matter what.

I'm really pleased to hear that you had a good run this morning and that Belinda is going into the marathon with confidence. You've done the hard work Belinda; it WILL pay off in 2 weeks time. I'm looking forward to seeing you both then. J

Really nice to catch up this morning with you and Belinda. You are doing a brilliant thing, speaks volumes about the type of person you are, I really admire it and I am sure Belinda really appreciates. Both of you are looking the goods, keep well and see you both in 2 weeks!

Look after yourself Belinda... you have out in the work and it will pay off. I am doing the half and then settling in for some hard core cheering!
