Midweek Update

22/8/05

As Belinda's legs were still very bashed up from Willy 2 Billy, we both felt an extra rest day was needed. So after a massage the night before and a rest today, she should be able to amble around for 10.5km tomorrow.

I went out for 10.5km on my own today. There was still some residual soreness in the quads so just ambled around today at a sensible pace and felt better for the run.

Belinda joined me today for an early morning appointment with our 10.5km loop. It was very slow to begin with as Belinda's legs didn't really like the idea of running. They gradually started to move and eased into the run. She was able to finish the run without stopping and in one piece and she was glad she was able to do this. She will have another rest day tomorrow to aid in her recovery.

After 2 easy days of recovery and the legs feeling definitely better, I was able to move it up a notch today and ran my 10.5km loop in just under 49 minutes with an average HR of 156. It felt nice and comfortable running at that pace and I can feel my form returning. I am now considering going to Melbourne to have another serious hitout at a marathon to see if I can give sub 3:30 a shake. All these long training runs at a slow pace have me feeling strong and fresh which is a bit of a contradiction. The best way to describe this is that the body is injury free and feeling strong from the base that I have built over the last few months.

Comments:
Horrie, I reckon you'd have a great chance to knock over 3:30 at Melbourne. As you say you have a very good base in the legs and you are injury free.

You guys are looking good for sydney and now melbourne apparently for Horrie.
