Return to Speedwork Take 2

30/9/05

After last weeks 6x2 minute efforts with a minute jog recovery, I decided to do 10x1 minute efforts with a minute jog recovery. I really started to struggle on the 6th effort. The 7th effort felt as though I had lost all form so I pulled the pin. However after checking the splits, I realised that the pace hadn't dropped, I was just losing my perception of things. As this is what happened prior to collapsing at Lane Cove, I feel I made the right decision. There is no point in pushing yourself beyond your limitations.

In the 7 minutes of efforts, I covered 1.915 km at an average pace of 3:38 per km. So overall, a pleasing return to speedwork. Next time I do this session, I will aim for 8 efforts and continue to build the snowball that Susie Power talks about in Run For Your Life.
