Midweek update - Return to Quarry Rd
26/12/05
Belinda's quads were still a little sore after Saturday's effort at Quarry Rd. So it was a gentle 10.5km today just to run the junk out of her legs. She felt better at the end of the run than she did at the start. So that was a good sign.

We decided to head to Timbrell Park for 5x1km reps. A 3km warmup from Brett Park before hitting the path around Timbrell Park. After finding her rhythm on the first one, Belinda proceeded to reel off 4 more with 3 seconds difference between the fastest and slowest rep for an average of 5:10 per rep. A very solid consistent session and one that shows she is definitely on the improve.

We headed back out to Quarry Rd for 1 lap as Belinda wants to do more training on the trails as she prepares for 6 Foot Track. We headed out fairly conservatively, passing Truckie and Aunty K as they were nearing the finish of their lap. Belinda was making good progress up the hills today and was handling the transition between walking and running a lot better than she did on Saturday. After getting to Quarry Rd in 55 minutes, we upped the pace on the way back for a sub 50 split to finish just under 1:45. Belinda was feeling so fresh at the end, she was surprised to see Stewart Avenue so soon. She is feeling a lot better about this trail running caper now and is keen to do more training out here as she is feeling the benefit of the training already.

Horrie, I've spent quite a bit of time today reading your posts from earlier this year about Belinda's recovery from injury and the fantastic success and progress she has made since then. Belinda, you have - and continue to - inspire me on my recovery from injury. I am very much looking forward to returning the favour by cheering you both on at 6ft 2006 !
Wishing you and your family all the best for the new year,
J
