Hills, Recovery Run and a trip to Pluviometer
17/1/06
This week we have decided to crank up the training for 6 Foot Track. This morning, we headed down to Coogee and ran the hills that run around Coogee to Clovelly. Started off by running the coastal route around Gordons Bay, up Clovelly Rd, down Arden St, up Beach St, up Clovelly Rd, down Brook St, up Arden St (Belinda's favourite), up Clovelly Rd, down Mount St, up Brook St, up Clovelly Rd, down Carrington Rd, up Mount St, down Carrington Rd again before heading back down Dolphin St to finish where we started. This gave us a total of 13.3km of hills, which was a very solid hitout.

We headed out around our 10.5km loop for a nice leisurely recovery run. Started off slowly before settling in at a comfortable pace before cranking it up for the last 2.5km. It was good to see Belinda get stronger the longer she ran.

Today, we headed up to Megalong Valley for a run to the Pluviometer and back. It was a very enjoyable day out, with the rain holding off apart from a bit of drizzle. This kept things nice and cool for us. We encountered plenty of cows/bulls, kangaroos and rabbits as we trundled along. As the current of Cox's River was travelling very quickly, we heeded Professor's advice from a few days ago and headed across Bowtell's Swingbridge. We then headed up the climbs through Mini Mini Saddle, down to Alum's River before making the very tough climb to the Pluviometer. The pace was quite solid but without the excitement of race day, was kept to a certain level. We enjoyed a couple of honey rolls at the Pluviometer before heading back. Running back down the climbs was certainly a lot easier than going up them, which is something you don't get to enjoy on race day. However, the climb back up from Cox's River after having run 28.5km is a tough ask but something that has given Belinda a lot of confidence as she can feel herself getting stronger, both physically and mentally. She will get more of the track when she heads up for Daniel Green's Camp in Katoomba next week. She is really looking forward to it.

Great running guys! That sounds like a beautiful run... tough though! The excitment must be building... has the countdown begun yet! I can wait to cheer you home!
That's perfect training for you both - to run different parts of the course as you're doing. As Tesso said, I'll be very interested to hear how the weekend training camp goes. You two are simply amazing in the way you've approached your preparation for 6ft Track....see you both, I hope, on Australia Day.
Great run guys. The amount of water on the track on Tuesday was unbelievable, the footbridge was the only option.
Happy to hear the training is going well.

Belinda, I'm looking forward to hearing your comments on Dan's camp.

That's a lot of hill running! Those hills around Coogee and Clovelly are killers, especially Arden St.. Well done Belinda! Can't wait to hear about the camp.
You're both training well! That's a huge long run. You'll know every rock and cow on the track come race day!
