Taper for Gosford
4/1/06
We both did our 10.5km loop but separately due to circumstances at home. I cruised around in 53 minutes, just concentrating on staying relaxed. Felt good throughout the run, starting to prepare mentally and strategically for Gosford.
Belinda ran firmly and looked strong coming home in around 63 minutes. She is having a few minor niggles in the ankles and quads. The 7.5 hours outing on Monday are still having their effects.
5/1/06
We headed out for a cruisy 10.5km loop together. We ran, discussing what she would be required to do on Saturday night. We then realised she was going to be very busy lap scoring as well as crewing for me. It made us realise that my race plan, including fuel/hydration strategy would have to clearly set out prior to the race. Belinda would try and set things up but I would have to sort a few things out myself at times.
I am nervous and excited about Saturday night. I am nervous because I have never ran for that long and seeing some very good runners fall by the wayside in the last couple of years but excited at the same time as I have prepared well for this over the last couple of months and am running strongly and injury free. I guess I just have to get out there and run and let the dice fall where they do.

I'd be interested in seeing what your nutrition plan is for the race.
I also wonder if you've been carbo loading like you would before a marathon.
Aaaaand, have you got a recovery plan re food and drinks?
Sorry for all the questions.
This is sooooo exciting :-)

Horrie, I think that the little green men have got in and sucked out your brain, but good luck anyhow! :-) :-)

Good luck mate hope you have a good race. Just remember what you told me about pacing for a 10k, hold yourselve back for the 1st 1k to ease in to it. Not sure what that means for a 12hr, run well anyway.
