Weekend Update - Belinda's Away Version
27/1/06
I went up to the Cool Running Camp at Katoomba to learn some tips about running 6 Foot Track. What better way to learn about it than joining both the male and female winner of last year's event.
I arrived just before 6pm just in time for the first run of the weekend. This was a 30 minute light run around a trail in Katoomba. It was nice to meet a few new runners, in particular more female runners and this got me excited about what laid ahead for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday morning, we headed down to Leura for some intervals. These were 6x3 minute efforts each with a 90 second standing recovery. We then went back and had some breakfast and then I got a 1 hour medial massage from Jimmy. He was able to find some weak points and made some suggestions how I could improve these. The massage left me feeling very loose and I found it helpful for my stretching class.
Then we had some free time before lunch followed by a talk on body mechanics. Then we went out for the same run as Friday evening.

We all piled into cars to head to Megalong Valley Rd where we would run along the 6 Foot Track as far as we could and get back to base within 3 hours. I ran with a lady called Monica and we made it as far as Cox's River before we headed back. As we got back early we ran an extra section back toward Nellies Glen and back and a small section of Megalong Valley Rd for a total of 18km in 2.5 hours. I enjoyed the run and didn't feel fatigued at all. This was a different feeling from the last few times I have been out there. Maybe I am getting used to these trails after all. While I was out there, I bumped into Colin and Chonky doing some secret training for 6 Foot as well.
It was great to meet some Cool Runners who I hadn't met before and Miss Gazelle's partner Colin who is doing great considering he has only been running a short time.

Looks like the camp was great for your running Belinda. Might show up Horrie on race day. First to beat him at Lane Cove.
Sounds like a great weekend Belinda. I admire your enthusiasm doing that little bit extra on the long run because you got back early.
You are making all this 6ft training sound easy!

Silly me! I thought it was Horrie who went to the camp!! I thought : how cheeky of him to admit to getting excited at seeing so many female runners!
Sorry Horrie! Good one, Belinda!
