Another hour on the exercise bike and another slow 30km run
With the Anzac Day public holiday this week, I decided to move my training schedule around. The long run usually gets shelved on the weeks of the SMC Series. But when you get a day where you don't have to go to work, it gives you more time to run. So that gave me an opportunity to fit in another slow 30km run as I build towards the Banana Coast Ultra Marathon on 14/5/06.
24/4/06
As I had a solid 10km on Sunday, I decided to have an hour on the exercise bike today so I could save the legs for the 30km the next day. I felt really good on the bike and am starting to feel stronger on it. I am gradually going a little bit further in the hour each time and this is giving me some goals to work on while riding.

Up at the same time I usually get up to go for a run when working but could stay out a couple of hours longer. So again, I decided to keep the pace right down and keep the HR below 120 for the first half of the run and then try to keep it below 130 for the rest. The end result was 30km in 3:13 with an average HR of 122. I've finished the run feeling great and am looking forward to a bit of speed at the Cool Running 5km Challenge, another cycle and another 30km run at the Striders STaR on Sunday to round the week out.

All looking good Horrie - I like the sound of a long slow 30k - might have to do a couple myself soon ;-)
