Final preparation for Banana Coast and Belinda injury update
It has been a fairly quiet week on the running front. I have only run my 10.5km loop twice to finish around 55 minutes. Kept the AHR to 134 and 132 and it felt very comfortable.
I have spent a lot of time on the mental side of the preparation this week. With the Coastal Classic from January under my belt, I now have the benefit of experience of running events of this distance so I feel I am better prepared.
Have bought up big for my fuel for the run. My list of goodies are:
12 bottles of Staminade
12 bottles of water
3 x 1.25l bottles of Coke
3 Power Bars
3 Bananas
4 Honey sandwiches
6 Creamed rice
6 packets of salt and vinegar chips
Now I just have to travel up to Grafton tomorrow and run down the Orara Way to Coffs Harbour on Sunday. Sounds easy when you say it fast, doesn't it?
As Belinda's knee was still causing her grief, she returned to the Sports Doctor to see what he had to say. The good news is the stress fracture has healed but the doc now seems to think that there could be a torn cartlege in the knee. She is booked in for an MRI scan next week to determine the damage. If there is a tear, she will then be booked in for arthroscopic surgery. Even if it is the worst possible scenario, at least there is now a solution which hasn't been there for the last 2 months. This then means she will be one step closer to running again.

Good luck with the Banana Ultra. You would think you could get some bananas during the race for free? Hope the knee injury sorts itself out and you don't need an arthroscope. Usually overnight as I had one done when I was 23.
Good Luck Horrie...I am sure you will blitz it.
Please give give B a big hug!! I have not seen her for ages.... are you guys going to the strider dinner? I would love to see you both.

You would have already left so its a bit late to wish you luck. I'll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts. I can't wait to hear all about this one.
It will be interesting to hear what Belinda's problem is. I've got my knee MRI next week also. We can compare results :-)

Horrie, I'm glad there's a solution to Belinda's injury in sight. I hope BC goes well. It's even quicker if you say that!
Your Blog is just the worst!!
I am torn between elation and excitment for you Horrie with your race. I wish you all the best and I hope it was a good day out.
Then Belinda. I turn immediately to feelings of compassion and understanding. With my absence from running last year and Tessos this year, I truly can appreciate what you are going through in determining your cause/treatment and getting back on the road to running. Best of luck with it and I am glad you have a running partner to still keep you in touch with all the going's on. It helps with motivation I am sure.
....talk about a rollercoaster of emotions you guys!
