3-2-1
25/7/06
Today's session was a 3km followed by a 2km and finished off with a 1km. Started the 3km steadily and just slotted in behind my pacer Blue Dog. Kept the pace pretty even to finish it in 12:17. A jog recovery of a tick over 2 and a half minutes and then we were on the line for the 2km. I was starting to feel the pinch halfway through this effort and 2 runners who were doing a 1600m passed me on the 4th lap. Concentrated on holding my form even though I could feel myself slowing as I was really becoming aware of how heavy parts of the track were. One of the few downsides of running on the grass after some heavy rain. I slogged it out to the end to finish the 2km in 8:18. At this stage I was not looking forward to the 1km to finish the session off. After a false start lengthened the recovery time to just under 2 minutes, Blue Dog geed me up to let it rip and run a sub 4. I didn't want to let on at this stage how much I was hurting and just kept quiet. He started the last rep at quite a firm pace and started to open a bit of a gap on me. The 2 runners who went past me on the previous rep were breathing down my neck and I was not going to let them run past me on this one. So I kept telling myself it was only 1km and the pain would be over soon. I was very happy to hear Sean reel off my split at 600m and was confident at this point of going sub 4. As Blue Dog disappeared into the distance I just opened up my stride and the breathing from behind started to become more distant. With 100m to go I just let it rip and hoped for the best. I was very happy to finish it in 3:55. I felt totally stuffed at the end and when Blue Dog asked how I was feeling, all I could do was shake my head. He joked that if I could only shake my head, it must have been a good session. Go Team GBH!
Belinda headed out for a 10.5km on her own. She felt she was working quite hard for the time she ran, which just shows that some days are easier than others.

Great times for those reps Horrie. The way you are getting faster and faster it might be a short weekend at Glasshouse for the crew of Team GBH :-)
Hey good effort. That's what those sessions are all about, fast and hard but that's what we love.
Good to see Belinda backing up and increase the milage again.

Sounds like a tough session. Glad I wasn't there!! I do hope to be back soon though, fingers crossed and I think Steve will be there to chase you around next week.
