Starting to SWEAT
11/7/06
After reading other bloggers account of all the fun they have training on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, I decided to go along and see what all the fuss was about.
This morning's session was 5x800s or 1200s depending what was on your program with a minute and a half jog recovery between each rep. As Blue Dog and I haven't got programs yet, we took the easy option of running 800s. After we finished the first one which allowed a very long recovery, Sean 'suggested' that we alternate between 800s and 1200s. So after a 2:20 recovery, we belted out a solid 1200 which was then followed by a much shorter recovery of 50 seconds. I was glad we only had an 800 this time around and was happy to run it a tick slower than the first. Another long recovery of 2:20 then into another 1200 which was run in the same time as the first. Sean then advised the Dog and I that we could finish off with another 1200. I am sure I heard the Dog growl at him when greeted with this news. So after another 50 second recovery, off we went at the tail of the field. We gradually eased our way past the slower runners and then it was just a case of not letting Blue Dog get to far ahead of me on the last lap.
Splits were 3:08, 4:48, 3:10, 4:48 and 4:53.
Certainly pushed myself harder than if I was doing the session on my own. I hope Colin doesn't read this and think I'm soft. ;-)

You wouldn't have got out of bed this morning had there been no coach: soft performance Horrie.
Great to have you along this morning. Hope you and Belinda can become regulars.

Hey Horrie -sorry to miss you this morning - Tuesday has become my lazy training day. Definitely back Thursday and next week though so hope to see you there soon!
That's exciting Horrie! Group speed sessions are great. I definitely work much much much harder at Pat's than I would on my own.
I'm sure you will love it, and get faster and faster.

Good someone was there to keep Ultra blue dog in line, lest he run off leash in the park and upset all the early morning walkers. Great to see some speed work happening again.
Gee SWEAT is becoming the next bandwagon now that the Socceroos have gone!
Sounds great, I'd really like a crack at some stuff like this but my existing schedule and committments seem to make it a big stretch.
