The Week That Was

2/7/06

I managed to combine my long run with Belinda's. I ran just over 11km to Centennial Park in a tick over an hour. Then met up with Belinda in Centennial Park to run the 10km version of the Tourist Trot. Belinda managed to run the whole way including the big hill up through Rushcutters Bay. She was happy to get through the run although she was feeling a bit of pain in the left ankle. She feels it is related to her previous injury as the whole left side feels weak. I left her to have a good stretch as I headed back home. I managed to run home about 2 minutes slower than I ran in, which I was happy with. This gave me somewhere between 32 and 32.5km in 3:11.

4/7/06

Headed out in the rain with Belinda for 7.5km. She was still feeling a bit of pain but feels she can run through it as it is not that bad that she can't run. It didn't seem to slow her down as she was moving well.

I headed out for a midweek long run on my own. I decided to run 18km, with the goal of running sub 5 minute kms. I achieved the desired outcome as I finished a couple of seconds over 88 minutes. Was really happy with the run and how I felt as I was able to switch off mentally and just cruised along. It has been a while that I have moved so freely for anything this long. I am starting to feel confident about the Cities Marathon in just over 3 weeks.

7/7/06

After having a day off yesterday due to choosing to stay in bed and watch the soccer instead, headed out this morning for a 6X2 minute fartlek session with a minute jog recovery between each effort. This was preceded by a 3km warmup and a 3.5km warmdown for 10.5km in total.

Comments:
