Midweek Update

31/7/06

I felt good enough to run this morning after living in the tights straight after the massage and shower the day before. The legs were a little heavy but was happy to accompany Belinda on our 10.5km loop. We have discovered that we can run at least 8km of this on grass. That sure does make a difference.

I wasn't sure about the 5X1200s I had on the program so checked with Sean if this was right. He then told me that I shouldn't be there and doing something lighter. I assured him I felt great and would run at a comfortable pace and stop if I didn't feel right. He said to see how I feel after the drills. I felt more confident after the drills and felt that if I ran the 1200s at around 90% I should be able to finish all 5. I set off behind Pres, my old manager from my footy days and we slotted into 4:10/km pace and this felt very comfortable. I was very even with my pacing and banging out the 400s in 1:40 consistently. When running the 3rd lap of the 3rd rep, Sean said he wanted to talk to me after that rep. He was a bit concerned that I was overdoing it and advised me to stop. I put my foot down and told him that I was holding back so I could run all 5. As he could see how much I wanted to finish the session, he allowed me to continue. I finished all 5 and still managed a kick in the last rep to go past Pres and Amanda in the run to the finish. This capped off a great morning.

Splits for the 1200s were 5:00, 5:00, 4:58, 4:59 and 4:53.

2/8/06

I had 90 minutes on the program this morning so I decided to run 6km in a half hour before coming back to run our 10.5km loop with Belinda. Belinda was moving very freely this morning and is starting to get some confidence back. Although she still feels a bit of pain around the stressie every now and again, she is very happy to be back running.

Comments:
I just read your Marathon report Horrie. You have to be pleased with that mighty fine effort. Well done. You certainly have clocked up some K's this year.

I am glad to hear that Belinda is getting back to being able to enjoy her running. Great news.

Wow, you've recovered so well from the marathon Horrie!

Yah Belinda. Have fun & enjoy your return to Striders on Saturday

Can we borrow Sean so he can tell us to do less too? It would make it so much easier at the start of a session!

The GBH machine is looking very good!

Hehehe Sean is sooo intruiged by your ability to back up! You know what they say,,, no brain no pain ;-) (kidding!!)
Nice work on the hills this morning :-)
