A wandering hour and 5X1200s

28/8/06

As I had an hour on the program, I decided to add an extra couple of hundred metres to my 10.8km loop and stop off at the bank and get some money. This bumped the run up to 11km which I was happy to run in 58 and a half minutes.

Belinda and I headed to SWEAT together this morning. I had 5X1200s on the program and Sean decided to let Belinda run 800s. After the warmup and drills, Blue Dog decided to hold back with me on the first one and we cruised through it in 4:59. As I wanted to finish it in 5:00, I was very happy with my judgement of pace. Sean wanted us to run each one a bit quicker so we upped the ante a fraction for the second in 4:56. We increased the pace slightly again for the third to run it in 4:52. Blue Dog was now properly warmed up and with plenty of talk about Glasshouse on the weekend, decided that we needed to crank it up a bit more. After sticking to him on the first lap, I was content to let him edge away but he was having none of this and geed me up to stick together. So I had no choice but stick with him as he is a bit scary if he starts growling. I was pleasantly surprised to stop the clock on that rep at 4:43. After the jog recovery, Blue Dog announced he was going hard on the last one and I agreed to do my best. I was very happy to finish the last one in 4:36 but was well and truly gapped by Blue Dog who was absolutely flying to finish nearly 100m ahead.

Belinda didn't feel that great starting her 800s and was struggling a bit but then got better as the session went on. She didn't hear her first 3 splits but finished off with a 4:17 and 4:02.

Comments:
great session horrie - you looked really strong! not long now... :)

Gotta watch that dog out there!!

Great session and good to hear Belinda that you felt better as you went.

Good 1200s Horrie - it's not easy to have each one faster than the previous.

Congratulations to Belinda on her Pub 2 Pub - another good run.
