Recovery - legs are feeling normal again

24/10/06

After Monday night's gentle 6km, the legs felt marginally better for this morning's 1km reps. As for the first speed session after a big one, the aim was to just stretch out as best I could. So after the warmup and drills I knew the reps weren't going to be pretty. When I heard Sean call 4:04 at the end of the first rep I was pleasantly surprised. So after a gentle jog back to the start of the next rep, off we went again. This one was a 4:02. Slowed slightly again for a 4:05 and then finished off with a 4:00 flat. So at the end, I was pleasantly surprised with a 4:03 average.

Belinda had 3x600m on her program and ran them in 3:00, 2:48 and 2:52.

Wednesday morning was another easy 6km. Happy to trundle around my 6km loop at a nice gentle pace.

Belinda met up the SWEAT girls and ran around Centennial Park for an hour.

Wild Wally was on the menu this morning. I had 7 reps and Belinda had 3. I was feeling nervous about this session. I hadn't heard anything from the ITB since Sunday but wasn't sure how running up and down hills was going to make it feel. So to finish the 7 reps with not a peep from the troublesome one left me feeling ecstatic. Started off at a comfortable pace on the first one and ran each one quicker as the confidence grew. Splits were 2:55, 2:52, 2:51, 2:49, 2:48, 2:48 and 2:42.

Belinda was happy to do her reps at a solid pace.

As we both had an easy half hour on the program, we ran our 6km loop at a very relaxed pace for a nice way to finish the week off.

Comments:
Another solid week for the H&B Show - great to hear that pesky ITB has been well behaved too.

Glad the ITB is OK after Brindy. An impressive recovery! Good 1k reps there.

Happy to hear the legs are feeling normal and congrats at your great run in the mountains.

Look after that ITB mate as you have bigger things on the horizon. Nice 1k reps as well.
