Christmas week wrap
19/12/06
It was another SWEAT session for us today. Today I had 5x1km reps on the menu while Belinda had 5x600m.
The legs felt great and were not that bashed up after the Half on Sunday so I decided to open the throttle and see what happened. Well, it was all good as I ran all but the 4th rep in 3:46 and the 4th rep in 3:49. This is the quickest set I have done in 2 years and feel as though I am getting back to my best form.
Belinda also enjoyed a great session, running all her 600s in the 2:40s which was well under 5 min/km pace.
20/12/06
We both had 90 minutes on the program today but could not run together as Belinda had an early start. I headed out early in the drizzle and had a great time running in the rain. I'd forgotten how much I loved it. I maintained 5 min/km pace for the whole journey, finishing 18km in just under 90 minutes.
Belinda decided to run home from work, which is 12.5km. She managed to do this in around 87 minutes. She found it a bit of a struggle after a hard day at work but it is still in the bank.
21/12/06
I headed to SWEAT on my own as Belinda was on a morning shift again. Today we had a 4 laps of the lake time trial, which is around 5.8km. When I have done multiple laps of the lake previously, my goal has been to run the laps under 6 mins per lap. Today I hoped to run them at a 5:50 average. I took off in a group consisting of Cindy who is Sean's wife, Blue Dog and Danielle Langsworth. I knew I was aiming high but you never know unless you have a go. As expected in this company, the pace was a little quick and I went through the first lap in 5:40. Blue Dog and Cindy had pulled away and were having a battle of their own while Danielle and I were working off each other's pace. Danielle started to pull away from me half way through the second lap and I just tried to let her not get too far ahead. But metre by metre, she pulled away from me until she finished 12 seconds or around 50m ahead. I was still happy with my time of 23:28, which was 8 seconds over my goal but well under my old average of just below 6 minutes per rep.
Belinda headed to the lake after work and ran 4 reps of the lake but had a short break between each rep as she thought that the session was similar to the one we ran a couple of weeks ago. She again struggled with running in the afternoon after work and noticed her hamstring problems from a couple of months ago making themselves known again.
22/12/06
I had my usual 30 minutes on the program which is standard for Friday. The only problem was that the run did not go to plan and I rolled my ankle in the first km. As stubborn as I am, I kept running and finished 6km in just under 30 minutes. The ankle was a bit sore and tender but not too painful.
Belinda decided to have a rest today as she had another busy day at work and her legs were still a bit sore.
23/12/06
With my ankle still a bit tender, I thought I would run my 10.5km loop at an easy pace and thought it would take me around an hour. I was pleasantly surprised that the ankle didn't restrict me too much and I finished in 54 minutes.
Belinda will probably have another day off so she is nice and fresh for the annual Christmas Eve Quarry Rd run tomorrow. We are really looking forward to that run.

Me too - I just put a dozen beers in the esky - just in case someone needs electrolyte at the end ;-)
Hope the ankle pulls up OK.
See you there guys.

See you there guys.
Just dropping by to say Merry Christmas to you, Belinda and Timbo.
Hopefully see you all before 2007 gets too old.

I see now the ankle day. Pity it stopped you running today. At least one member of the family kept the running name going today. Merry Christmas to you both and I'll see you at Black Stump.
