End of week/year wrap

28/12/06

Today we had fartlek on the program. As Sean is away this week, we did this session on my own. Belinda headed to Centennial Park on her own and ran an even paced lap of Centennial Park and the Fox Studios/SCG/SFS block.

I stuck to around home. After a 15 minute warmup, I launched into a session of 6x2 minute efforts with 1 minute floats. I managed to cover 3.91km in the 17 minutes at an average pace of 4:20/km. The pace is still a bit down but the ankle is improving a little each day.

We both had an easy half hour on the program. I managed a bit over 6km in the half hour while Belinda ran just under 5km in 32 minutes.

With the Beyond the Black Stump run on Monday, we juggled our programs for the weekend. Belinda stuck with the scheduled 1 hour and ran a slow and steady 10.3km in 70 minutes. She was still feeling the effects of her tight hamstring.

I decided to do my 2 hour run today and swap it with tomorrow's scheduled 1 hour so I am a bit fresher for Beyond the Black Stump. I headed over the other side of Botany Bay and ran the 26km option of the Airport Adventure. I slowly wilted with the heat and humidity and finished in 2:16.

I ran the 1 hour run today and covered just over 12km. It was still fairly hot and humid but I felt a lot better today. I'm glad I was only doing 1 hour today as I am sure things would have ended up like yesterday if I had to run for another hour.

Comments:
Enjoy the Black Stump and all the best for the New Year guys ;-)

Well done on a top year in 2006. Hard to separate Glasshouse from beating Superflake.

I'll be struggling to keep you in sight from your recent form.
