Back to SWEATing again

9/1/07

Belinda was keen to get back to SWEAT and said the only reason she wouldn't go is if she couldn't. I tried to talk her into doing an easy lap of Centennial Park after the warmups and drills instead of the scheduled hill session Sean had planned. No, we are going to do the hill session because it is on the program. End of discussion.

Got through the warmup and drills not feeling too bad but still a bit fatigued. We had 12 x Wild Walters today, who is Wild Wally's little brother. The last 250m of Wild Wally including 100m of uphill is lopped off this circuit, which makes it a little easier but also makes the recoveries shorter. As we set off uphill the first time, I realised there was not a lot of leg drive there and it took a fair bit of effort to get up the hill for the first time. I was happy to hit the flat section and cruised the downhill section to finish the first rep in 1:49. I was happy that everything was working okay so I was hopeful of finishing the 12 reps. As we were lining up for the second I noticed Belinda and a few others were running their recovery very quickly to be able to start the second on time so no recovery for her. She managed to do the same thing for the first 3 reps before sitting the 4th one out. She ran the 5th one but her legs did not like the idea of uphill running and after coming in at the tail of the field, Sean told her not to do any more and just do some stretches instead. I was very relieved when I heard this and I was now able to relax and enjoy the rest of the session, managing to run each rep. I was happy to be running within myself just stretching out a little more on each rep. Splits were 1:49,1:41,1:42,1:40,1:40,1:41,1:38,1:39,1:37,1:39,1:36 and 1:30.

Comments:
Thanks for the comment about Six Foot. I'm like a sponge about the race. All info is being absorbed.

Hope you guys take it easy ... though it doesn't sound like you are! I felt great after my 12 hour race last year and made the mistake of getting back into training too soon, and that's when the ITB reared its ugly head.

Wow, Sean had hill reps on your progaram, I had rest days. Seems like you got jipped.

Hope the recovery is going well.
